Moving to MARTA Area

Hello hello! I'm going to move out of my current apartment soon and into the metro Atlanta area. I don't have a large budget, so I'm a bit worried about the areas I can move to. I'm a single female, living alone, no dog, only a cat who has historically been useless. I also have an anxiety disorder, so it's hard for me to tell sometimes when I'm overreacting or when I'm actually in danger.

I've narrowed down my search to apartment blocks in the following areas: by the Ashby station/Washington Park; by the Arts Center; by Lindbergh station; and by the Oakland City station. How is the crime in these areas? What kind of crime is in these areas (I would prefer to be mugged over being stabbed)? If I did move to a "worse" area, what are some ways to protect myself (other than getting a pitbull)?

I know this seems focused on crime rates and not on the great parts of Atlanta, but I've gotten it drilled in my head that big cities have loads of crime. Please also feel free to chime in about the great parts of these neighborhoods as well, if you can! Thank you very much.
