Can I become proficient within 2 months?

Sorry if this sounds ridiculous, but genuine question. I’ve been playing guitar for a few years now, I’m not incredible or anything but I’m definitely not a beginner. My friends have just formed a band and need a bass player. And so they asked me to join. Their first gig is in 2 months. Is it ridiculous to assume that someone who was fairly experienced with guitar would be able to convert that knowledge to bass in such a short time frame? Thanks!
