Unexplained bald patches

The sides of my head is bald and it’s been like that since I was in kindergarten. I remember hairstyles telling my mom to stop putting rubber bands on that side of my head because when I was little I would always twist it. She never stopped putting rubber bands there and I would keep twisting it. I went to my dermatologist at 15/16 years old and he didn’t know what it was but he said it’s not alopecia. He prescribed medication but I had a bad reaction to it and it bleached my skin when I was 15/16. I’m now 21 (so the side of my head had been bald for 15 years now) and I still don’t know the reason for the baldness or how to fix it. Ik a hair transplant may be an option but I want to know other recommendations that may hopefully work….

I’ve already tried rosemary water, variety of hair oils and I haven’t tried it yet but I just bought men’s minoxidil

(Ik my hairs dirty it’s time to take my braids out, and it’s not dandruff just a lot of built up gel)
