EV advice

Unlike many of the folks on this sub, I dread buying a new car.

I hate the big expense and I get overwhelmed by all the options out there.

I currently drive (don't laugh) a 2014 1L petrol polo. It has done me when and only has 40K miles on it.

My salary has increased and I am looking for a nicer car. My current one doesn't have central locking!

My daily commute is around 25 miles return and a rarely do big journeys.

Would an EV make sense for me? My budget would be around 20K. Do the batteries in EVs last? As you can tell, I don't like changing my car often and I know my phone battery dies very quickly after a few years...
