Is the Confessor class worth it?

I have been playing quite a few classes and playstyles at this point. The first class I ever tried was Confessor. I only managed to play about 20 hours, before i restarted as a new class. Does the Confessor class get more interesting as the game progresses? I really want to give it another go, also because it was my first playthrough, and I was very inexperienced back then (it was my first souls game too). Should I after my playthrough with a strength build, go back and give Confessor a second chance?

Suggestions and buildpaths are very much welcome too!

Edit; When I pick my class, I like to stay within its main attributes, so I kinda force myself to follow the classes buildpaths, if that makes sense
