I was thinking that Julie might have: 1. Freed the animals during the night where Tian Chen died. 2. Saved Randall when he was left with the monsters 3. Saved Victor's sister when she lost her arm. 4. Found/made the talismans and put them in the tree. 5. ... Continue the list in the comments!

Edit: 1. Is a mistake on my side, as other people pointed out there was a scene of monsters freeing the animals.

I think storywalking will be a way for the writers to show us how it all began and the ritual.
