S23 Ultra - Red dot blinking on screen randomly

My S23 Ultra's screen has been having this weird flickering issue for more than half a year now. The red dot always appears in the same location and I can not reproduce it. It happens automatically, sometimes every day for weeks, sometimes not.

I found similar posts on reddit from the past but does not seem like a frequent issue.

My findings:

  • Does not matter if it's running on constant 60hz or on adaptive, which is between 120hz - 24hz
  • Does not happen when something is moving on the screen (video, or if I put my finger on the screen)
  • Occurs when something static is displayed on the screen regardless of color
  • Always a red dot
  • When checking the screen with display tester apps and Samsung's built in feature which you can open via the phone app : *#0*# or *#*#0*#*#\* it never appears
  • Happens regardless of temperature
  • Never dropped it or caused physical damage to the phone
  • It worked well for more than 1 year after purchase, and then in 2024 summer started happening
  • Phone is on the latest software version, checked, the issue appears regardless of updates
  • Checked it in Samsung partner repair service, the guy did not know what to do with it.
  • *Edit: Phone is set back to factory defaults, nothing is on it currently

Since I still have more than 1 year warranty, I brought it back to the shop where I bought it. The guys said there as well that since the issue is not constant and not reproducible they don't recommend sending it in warranty service since "it happened many times" (in Hungary) that the official Samsung service keeps the phone for a month and will not do anything if there's no visible problem and charge me a pity amount for sending back the phone. Thinking of just selling it for a lower amount, I got tired of messing with it.

Do you guys have any opinion on what could be the issue with the screen?
