Can anyone make their pixel play music when connecting to their car bluetooth?

If I have YoutubeMusic or any audio (podcast, audiobook) already open with a notification up, then ues it always resumes playing. But .. if not I have found no way to make it start. Tasker routines (autoinput, autonotification, playing media) do NOT work when the screen is off. And of course if you have top unlock the phone and open the screen you may as well just press the play button yourself.
