Why do people online hate Angel Dust's story so much?
(I marked this as NSFW because of the discussion topic being about Angel's SA)
I've been a casual fan ever since the actual show dropped, and while I can see the mental throughline on most of the criticisms, and even agree with some of them, one I never understood was the idea that Poison is a song that glamorizes SA and that Angel's story is a bad depiction.
I want to clarify that I am NOT an SA victim myself, so I don't think I can fully make the judgement on my own. And I know you aren't really supposed to take Twitter seriously, but all I ever see over there is how much his story sucks and how glamorizing Poison is and people saying they're offended by his story as an SA victim.
I don't want to come off as saying their experiences are invalid, they are, and they have a right to feel that way. I'm just very confused by the juxtaposition in opinions. One minute I see people say it sucks and offends them and their experience, another I see victims here on Reddit praise it, and another I see licensed therapists on Youtube explaining the subtleties of his portrayal. But I have never seen anyone explain why the portrayal is bad outside of just saying "Valentino is a flat character" and "they made an SA joke with Sir Pentious so soon afterward", which yes, I can see the mental thought process, but I don't see how those affect Angel's portrayal specifically.
I'm hoping I can seek answers here, mostly because I can't trust Twitter to give me a response that isn't full of "I hate Vivziepop therefore everything she makes sucks by default" energy. I'm aware this source isn't unbiased either, but Twitter is a unique kind of biased I want to avoid. Thanks in advance!
