Terminid slayer
Years ago, there was a small village here. Life was simple- peaceful. Children played and ran across the meadows, without a care in sight. The community here grew vegetables and mined for minerals. It was hard work, but I don’t think any one of us would have ever wanted to leave.
By liberty, it was beautiful.
Our small piece of Super Earth…
One day, an ion storm swept in. Machines stopped working shortly after. It didn’t bother us much. Entrenchment tools don’t exactly need reactors or engines.
*chuckle*
One night, our quiet village stopped being so quiet. I can still hear the sirens blaring, but even they couldn’t muffle the sounds of those THINGS. Most of the village died before they even got a chance to get out of bed.
We fought, for all the good we thought that would do…
I wasn’t … no one was ready for that attack.
By midnight, there was no more silence. Screams, gunfire, and sirens; that’s what I remember most about that night.
Before I knew it, 5 of us were all that was left. We didn’t have time be scared, or to realize how hopeless our situation was. All that mattered was trying to keep the kids safe- trying to keep something safe.
Our homes, our friends, our peace- all of it was gone.
I don’t think there was anyone who had any hopes that we’d survive the night; and after we saw the charger, I don’t think any one of us believed our deaths would be quick either.
We threw everything at that beast as it charged at us.
I tried to grab the kids, to do SOMETHING, but that’s when everything went black.
Medics believe I got hit by SOMETHING shortly after and fell off a cliff- democracy protects I guess…
By the time the ion storm subsided and our SOS went out, there wasn’t much to save.
2 days, it took 2 days. After that, the only thing left was quiet…
They took everything from me, so I’m just getting even.
