A new idea for other faction interactions that isn't just "a planet with two factions on it"
Instead of having two factions on a planet, what if we had two other factions fight without SE interaction, having an exchange of planets between enemies
This could be implemented on the galactic map showing the attacking supply lines and an Potential planet change
It could also easily be turn into an MO, somthing like:
"We must stop the bot expansion into bug territory to prevent them access to E-710: Hold _, or Hold _ when the MO expires"
I think this would add more depth to the galactic war, and create entertaining moments, somthing like: a large scale bug invasion into automaton territory at the same time as SE, crippling their defences and lowering faction wide resistance rates for a time
A factions like the Terminids can't expand strategically, so there's nothing stopping them from entering Automaton space, and the bots want more fuel to make bigger wepons, attacking the bugs provides this.
Conclusion: This approach removes the engine limitation of having 2 factions on one planet while simultaneously creating faction interactivity and also create a plethora of new story moments
