Career path from Internal IT Audit
Hello, I've recently signed on with a company to do Internal IT Audit and wanted to to know what you all suggest for a good career next step after auditing. I know it's early to think about that, having just signed on but I like to keep a long term goal in mind from the beginning so I'm not trying to play catch-up later.
I have a few years experience in help desk and some Jr Sysadmin work but eventually want to pivot into a security oriented role and management in particular. I accepted this position because I figured it would be a good way to really understand what right looks like when it comes to managing an IT department. As far as certifications I only have the Security+, planning the CISSP as soon as I have the experience requirements met.
I've searched this a few different times but most of the posts I see are from Accountants moving into IT Audit, not someone who works in IT trying to build a career in IT specifically.
tl;dr - Where to go after a few years in IT Auditing.
