St. Kateri - Native American Perspective

Hey all,

I hope you're having a good day/had a good weekend.

I'm a Catholic from America and I'm getting ready to go on pilgrimage to see St. Kateri s shrine in Canada.

She is a Native American Catholic saint, but I don't know how well known she is.

I did want to get a more well rounded understanding of the situation. How is she generally viewed in indigenous circles? I've been reading a wide variety of responses from Mohawk people being happy she's been given a esteemed position in Catholicism all the way to she's a sell out to colonials.

In guessing this isn't something that's going to have a clear answer, but I figured I'd ask.

Also, I know there was a rule against religious posts, but it seemed to be more focused around native religions. If that's incorrect let me know and I would be happy to delete this post.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this and k nope you have a good week.
