Tragic Incident in Kozhikode: 10th Grade Student Dies After Violent Clash.
A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Kozhikode, Kerala, where a 16-year-old Class 10 student, Muhammed Shahabas, lost his life after sustaining severe head injuries in a violent altercation between students.
The conflict reportedly began during a farewell event at a tuition center in Thamarassery on February 23, 2025, and escalated into a serious clash on February 27. Shahabas was initially treated at a local hospital for what seemed like minor injuries, but his condition worsened after returning home. He was later admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and placed on ventilator support, but sadly, he passed away around 1 AM on March 1.
Authorities have taken five students into custody, charging them with murder. The Kerala Education Minister has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.
This tragedy has sparked outrage and concern over student violence and school safety.
During the altercation, Shahabas reportedly suffered severe head trauma, likely from a brutal attack involving blows to the head. Initial reports suggest he may have been struck multiple times, possibly punched or hit with a hard object, leading to internal bleeding. He was conscious after the fight and received treatment at a local hospital, but the true extent of his injuries became apparent only later.
After returning home, his condition worsened significantly—symptoms like dizziness, vomiting, and loss of consciousness indicated severe brain damage. He was rushed to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator. Despite medical intervention, his brain injuries were too severe, leading to his death in the early hours of March 1.
