Enemy concept: the Wolf (arachnophobia)

I saw this picture of a wolf spider recently. The way those large forward facing eyes stare, and how those two giant fangs sit at the front draw a lot of attention. Its a very recognizable spider. It got me thinking how crazy it would be to have to deal with something like this coming from the gloom.

You can spike it up a bit. Make it more hard chitin, less fur, so it fits with the terminids visually. But keep those eyes and those large round pale chelicerae and contrast them with large black fangs underneath that you only see when its too late. It's fine to drop it down to four legs like the rest of the terminids, but six or eight woukd be better.

Let it crawl up walls and overhangs, obviously. It needs to be fast. But it needs to move in jerks. Most terminds either move at a constant pace, or they leap once. This should move like a spider. Short bursts of high speed with very little movement between them. I think its average 100 meter distance should be about the same as a stalker, brood commander, or alpha warrior, but it would cover that ground differently, overtaking as it bursts forward, and being overtaken as it pauses and reorients. It should pounce, but like an real animal, not giant leaps like a pouncer or hunter. It should change directions frequently, and stick to walls or cover. It should not charge straight at you.

It needs to be big, stalker or brood commander big. It should be mostly light armor, with a little medium here and there.

Its main attack would be its big old fangs. But a pounce timed correctly would do a soft ragdoll like a brood commander's charge.

When I see this sucker I want to be scared. I want it to be a flurry of legs and movement and fear. I want it to pause just long enough for me to think I'm getting a good look at it, but not.

I think this should be an alternative to stalkers. A map will generate either stalkers or these guys. Forests and urban areas are more likley to generate these spider dudes.
