Expectations for August State of Play

Let's take a leap of faith and say that it will happen, which is not a certainty

What should we expect, not what we want, but what should we expect?

Here's what I think

Certainties:

  • Miles Morales trailer showcasing gameplay and story
  • Astro's Playroom get's a closer look
  • Bugsnax (It's a 2020 release)
  • Fortnite presence
  • Sackboy presence (and potential 2020 launch)

Likely:

  • God of War sequel announcement (no date, just cinematics)
  • Horizon date (later in 2021)
  • Ratchet and Clank date (2021)
  • Demon's Souls date
  • GTA5 presence
  • Backwards compatibility reveal (with a list on the blog following the show)
  • PSVR compatibility showcase

Maybe:

  • The Last of Us Part 2 Multiplayer
  • Resident Evil 8
  • Sherlock holmes
  • Destruction All stars info
  • VR game by London Studio
  • Scarlet Nexus presence as it has just appeared on Amazon
  • Announcement of preorder date

Not happening:

  • Agent

Edits:

  • Rainbow and Far Cry 6 will be at Ubi forward, removed from list
  • Microsoft has marketing rights for Cyberpunk, removed from list
  • Scarlet Nexus changed to a Maybe, it was announced at a Microsoft conference but they're notorious for World debuts.
  • Added possibility of Preorder announcement, as that happened for the PS4 right after E3. This and the last showcase have been stand ins for E3 so it makes sense to maybe announce preorders starting at a date a week after the SOP
