What is the point in breeding anymore?

As the title suggests. I do not understand why the egg mechanic still exists when shiny hunting is way easier and less time consuming with outbreaks, you can iv train with bottle caps, change abilities with patches and capsules, change natures and use mirror herb for egg moves.

Sure before the DLCs you could only hunt for the starters by breeding, but thats about it. They have made so many ways to get around the breeding mechanic that they might as well remove it completly.
