Why did Lumon allow episode 4 to happen?
I have no idea how this sub reacts to negative posts but Episode 4 has left an itch in my brain that the show is yet to scratch. But I’m really hoping a future episode gives it a bit more context because as it stands I can’t help but feel it is massively convoluted and I’m just hoping someone can explain it for me.
I’m quite confused as to why Lumon would allow for a situation where the, so far, VERY problematic innies would be allowed to sleep? These 3 people (obviously not including Helena) have been nothing but a nuisance to Lumon and all they want to do is complete a project. Surely Lumon, being the creators of Severance, would know there is likely a chance for sleep to reveal information. Whether or not it’s reliable information is irrelevent because either way it will have a huge impact on the innie which it clearly did.
So the issue isn’t them sleeping. It’s the fact that the show had to create thee perfect scenario to allow for them to have to sleep. And that scenario just so happened to be a random ass overnight stay in the woods which has never been done before but just so happened to be done at the perfect time where an innie had strong suspicions? We already know based on last episode that they are observing Irving and we don’t know for how long so to put his innie in a situation where he can sleep when his outie is a potential whistleblower seems very stupid. The end of episode 4 does not happen unless Lumon set up this very unexpected and out of character event.
EspecIally for how out of left field episode 4 is, it kinda feels like the entire scenario was contrived because they HAD to have Irving sleep as his theory alone wasn’t strong enough to act on. And also with Mark S, they are well aware his outie has suspicions and his wife is alive, he could have dreamt about anything. I’m really hoping it was intentional because it seems like such an unusual oversight.
