Did I take it too far with this parent?

I sent an email to a parent concerning their child watching videos on their phone instead of reading the book assigned in class. The parent responded "she has read this book multiple times. Had you bothered to ask her, you would have learned that. Perhaps you can give her a different assignment than the one being instructed if you want to see increased participation. " I replied with "__currently has a 27% in my class, so if she wants to pass for the year, it might be to her benefit to read the book again. And I most certainly will not be providing her with separate material." I don't think I did anything wrong with my response. It was curt, but it was 100% true, and I still think I kept it professional. However, I'm sure she is going to be fuming over it.

FYI the student does not have an IEP, 504, or any accommodations. This was a classic "my daughter is too smart for your class" bit.

Edit: the parent responded with the usual nonsense about how I should have reached out about her student failing earlier (I did) and that I should have come up with a plan for her to stay on top of her work instead of having to make it up to try to pass (that’s the parents’ job), and that I’m unprofessional, and blah blah blah. I forwarded it to admin and told them I’m no longer going to be responding to this parent, and now I’m going to go to sleep while parent clutches their pearls.
