Charging without a controller? Is it possible?

Hey everyone. Have tried Google but not finding much. Can you charge these without a controller? My son is going through AA batteries like crazy, I got these as a replacement but they use a usb c and our controllers are usb micro so won’t plug in. Thanks for any help.
