An AI review based Open Access Academic Journal Opinion
Hi everybody!
I'm an academic who is bored with the long review and desk-reject process—also, as the high costs and the other commercial sides of scholarly publishing.
I think none of the papers get rejected for just insufficient content except for some sensitive situations like racism, religion, defamation, etc. One manuscript can get a lot of revision to be a publishable version. So, today, many reviewers make wrong rejection decisions. Also to be a reviewer is a hard process of course. Because there is no strict benefit to the reviewing process. Many journals get a lot of money to make accessible an article in their open access process but they don't pay any to reviewers. So, the reviewing process became hard to sustain. As a last part of reviewing, most reviewers do not check the findings of the study. So, actually, they don't know whether the study is valid or not. They just check the structure, subject, and some other things that we cannot be sure what they are. :)
When I inspect the reviewing process, actually reviewers need to fill out a checklist about the manuscript and check whether the findings are reasonable or not.
As for my main focus: We can build a new journal. Especially in social sciences. We can code an AI agent to check the manuscript for a given very detailed checklist and then it can give revisions to the author(s). So, the reviewing process will be in just a couple of minutes not months! Then, with an editorial check, the manuscript can be accessible on the Internet! Of course, this is a little bit costly. But I think it can be done with a 10-20$ payment for each manuscript. As a bored author, I can pay even 50$ to publish my article in just a few minutes!
I am sure that this journal can get accepted by important indexes in a short while.
I am Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Management Information Systems, Istanbul University AND I am a backend programmer also. I can build this system but I need a team to develop and as an editorial team. Because we need a sensitive development process and a lot of tests with tricky manuscripts.

To open academy, to open access!
Take care!
