Am I being Stiffed ?
If I tell my body shop not to paint my car, and he paints it anyways, then wants $900 for it….do I have to pay ?
A little back story, I got into a car accident in December, a body shop told me he can get all the parts for $700 and work for $400 labor, so I waited for my insurance to approve it, they did, and gave me a check for $1191, now he’s not in their network so they said if he charges differently for labor, I’d have to pay that ( he was closer than the other shops they had which were 10-15 miles away. So I gave him the check, he then wanted my $500 deductible ( which he said I could pay in increments, then he wanted it all at once ) which I gave him after he told me it would only be $1100.
I told him NOT to paint it as I didn’t have money to pay for paint right now and wanted to save up for it, I said this 3 times, even in text, he agreed. Well, When I went to go pick up my car, it was painted and he said I owe him $900 for it, and he’s willing to take $300 per pay check.
I don’t think I should pay because I did not authorize the painting of my car. I told him I was fine with it being half done. He said he didn’t feel right sending it out half done. Now I owe him an additional $900?!
