IT Audit to Cybersecurity Roles

Hello CS, I posted in the ITCareerQuestions subreddit about this as well but I recently signed on to do Internal IT Audit and want to start planning my career from here. I want to pivot into security/management after this role and wanted to know what you all recommend or what kinds of doors having auditing experience opens up.

My plan while I'm here is to get the CISSP as soon as I meet the experience requirements but I'm not too familiar with the kinds of roles I could look at with the CISSP, a few years doing desktop support, and then a few years of Internal Audit experience.

I've searched for other posts with the questions I have but it's almost always from Accountants trying to build an accounting career by doing IT Auditing, and very rarely from IT professionals building a career in IT.

Any advice/opinion/recommendations are greatly appreciated.
