X-T5 viewfinder coating issue
I'm just posting this as a PSA since I've seen people reporting quality issues with the X-T5 viewfinder not present on the X-T4 and earlier (scratches, cracks, peeling, etc.
I bought my X-T5 brand new a couple months ago and have taken exceptional care, never removed the eye cup and dusted with a blower and non-abrasive cleaning products provided by Fujifilm. I never even took my camera out in the rain, even though it's weather sealed I'm still paranoid to damage a significant investment.
Still, the viewfinder coating ended up cracking and peeling (see photo). I'm not sure if it is the humidity, the air or the environment living close to the ocean in Scotland, or what, but Fujifilm support has been amazing.
I reported the issue to them and they promptly sent out a box so I could ship it back to them for free. A week later it's on its way back to me with the viewfinder replaced at no cost.
Being without my X-T5 has felt weird, as if a part of me was missing, so I'm excited to get it back and resume the projects I had planned for the summer.
I just wanted to post this to encourage anyone experiencing a similar issue to report it to Fujifilm. I judge companies primarily on they're support and how they treat their customers, and Fujifilm support has been impeccable.
Edit: Including referenced photo. I was getting a server error trying to upload the photo earlier. That issue seems to now be resolved.
