Was so close but..

I had an interview with a CPG company. It was my final round today for a Product Owner role. I am from another CPG company but in Operations in a product role though. The interviewer, Data & AI Product leader wanted someone from a core retail line which I don't have much background in. Anyhow interview was alright and I was kinda winning his trust but then his final question - head of Data Science vs head of Product - in 5 years, where I would see myself. We had been talking about data for sometime and for some reason I misinterpreted Head of Product as Head of Brand. I said head of DS and justified. This role is for Product Owner. :( after 3 months of desperate job hunts, this was the closest I got. I would have said Product for all the right reasons and from my heart.

I have written to the HR who had set up my interview to relay to the interviewer that I misinterpreted and would see myself in Product space in the future.

My role in my current company has been impacted and my last date is in June. Feeling so low and unlucky.
