Tower Concept: Infected Tuk’Va
Disclaimer:I am not adding numbers as I suck with maths and balance, and this is my seventh of the post-contest ideas
Faction/type: Dark Army/Barracks
Description: hailing from the same tribe that helped the forces of Linirea defeat Umbra, these warriors have come to fight for the alliance, though something is off about them….almost like something is hiding deep inside them
Tower basics: these 2 warriors, while mediocre at the start, make up for it via their on-death trait, turning into the fearsome Reapers from beyond the stars, with high damage but mediocre survivability; at max level their “birth” becomes an explosive event, while also becoming such a unnerving presence that it strikes fear in their prey
Tower levels: at base level the Tuk’Va are surprisingly good, with the Repaer being rather pathetic as a result; as the tower is upgraded the Tuk’Va’s stats steadily decrease while the Reaper’s increase with a higher rate, ending up with a trash base unit with a VERY powerful Reaper that has nonexistent armor, medium health, but high attack
Abilities:
- Xenophobia: enemies attacked by the Tuk’Va get steadily reduced attack speed after a couple seconds and every couple seconds afterwards; one upgrade, doesn’t affect bosses, and the percentage is static when Reapers emerge, but is instantly removed when the Reaper dies
-Blood Borne: Reapers spawn in with an explosion of infected blood, poisoning enemies in an area around the deceased Tuk’Va; upgrades increase the range of the explosion and the poison damage; poison stacks with other dot effects, but doesn’t actually kill, leaving foes at 1 hp; bosses are immune
Tower Appearance: the tower starts as a fairly well kept Tuk’Va outpost, with upgrades causing it to fall into disrepair as the Reapers make it more suited to their tastes, resulting in a rather alien hive; upgrading Xenophobia makes the Tuk’Va look more unnerving, while Blood Borne adds a pool of….something…to the tower
Naming conventions: stereotypical names for tribal people, while the Reapers have simple names like Ridley, Bruce, Jason, and Myers that totally have no meaning
Quotes:
“We….are Fine” (build)
“Someone….There?” (Xenophobia)
*Bubbling intensifies (Blood Borne)
Overall pros and cons:
+melts weak chaff as a reaper
+Blood Borne messes up swarms and makes on kill effects for other towers easier with lack of finishing power
+Xenophobia ruins high damage and fast attack units due to the slowdown if supported
+abnormally high rally range
-insta-kills wreck the Reaper’s game plan as they need the Tuk’Va’s bodies to be born
-Xenophobia is only permanent after the reaper spawns, and otherwise decays, and while amazing, it requires you to keep your troops alive long enough for it to pay off
-2 unit issues
-bosses are their worst targets due to most having insta-kills, all have immunity to both abilities, and just general health to tank the few hits they get in
-ranged shall be their downfall rather quickly
Achievement: Uncanny Valley
Get an enemy to max Xenophobia
