Stoeger STR-9 for concealed carry?

I am hoping to get my CCL approval letter (NYS) in the next couple of weeks, and an looking for a solid CCW for not too much money. Found this option (at least, the compact 10+1 version) while purchasing my home defense shotgun at a local Sportsman's Warehouse and it looked pretty sweet. I am pretty new to handguns, so I'm looking for something with good ergonomics, reliability, and a reasonable learning curve. Does anyone have thoughts or experience with this gun? Any advice is much appreciated!
