First time visiting London in ~1 month - thoughts on this itinerary?

Hi all, was hoping to get your opinion on this itinerary for my trip to London. I'm going to be staying a bit East near Canary Wharf. I'm planning to rent a road bike for my time in London. Trying to figure out if I should switch to gravel for my few days in Scotland.

Anyway, any opinions on this rough itinerary? I'm hoping to knock these rides out as early as possible in the day to make time for family activities in the afternoon/evening. Planning for the week before to definitely be a recovery week so I'm ready for the mileage.

Appreciate any advice! I won't have a car so I'd be trying to learn the transportation system simultaneously for my returns from the longer rides. I'm planning to post separately for advice on Scotland though if anyone has any opinions there that's also welcome!

  • 03/03/2023 - Friday - Scotland - Skye to Inverness to Aviemore (rental car)
  • 03/04/2023 - Saturday - Scotland - Cairngorm ride followed by Aviemore to Edinburgh (rental car)
  • 03/05/2023 - Sunday - Scotland - Edinburgh (maybe some light cycling otherwise pedestrian mode)

Edit Editing the schedule because I realize I made a mistake and should have clarified. For the Scotland leg, my family will have a rental car. So I was planning two rides in Scotland: 1) Glasgow to Ft. William, 2) a day dedicated to Isle of Skye. Travel from Skye to Edinburgh will be by car with the family. As will be the trip from Ft. William to Skye.

Edit #2 I uhh am definitely not thinking I can ride from Skye to Edinburgh in a day. I corrected that and updated my tentative itinerary per Reddit's recommendations thus far!

Edit #3 It sounds like based on the season I'm visiting, the Glasgow to Ft. William ride is at high risk of being pretty unpleasant. Instead we're thinking to just push via car to Ft. William from Edinburgh (by way of Glasgow) to give us breathing room in Isle of Skye. We'll then plan a night in Aviemore to use as a base for a gravel ride in the Cairngorms.
