Wedding invitations

Off late I’m noticing a trend of destination weddings which includes all the fancy instagrammable muas, photographers with mandatory sabyasachi or Manish Malhotra clothes for the bride. It’s like the bride wants to be a celebrity for a day inspite of being a normal middle class person. All this comes at the cost of cutting down the list of guests from what used to be atleast ten years ago 500-700 friends, acquaintances and relatives to maximum 70-80. I feel by not inviting people specially those who have been by your side through thick and thin in life just to get your insta stories looking like a celebrity is not worth it. Losing your friends in the long run is what is going to pinch more. The reason I’m posting this is 2 of my close childhood buddies got married recently and I wasn’t invited. I was all the more hurt when I met one of these friends recently and she casually said she didn’t invite anyone who had kids as they tie the parents down and they cannot have fun. Friend lost for life. Rant over.
