Reznor and Cleveland Scene Magazine Feud.
In the 90's Trent Reznor and the Cleveland Scene Magazine had a public feud. Reznor stated that lack of support from local community is one of the reasons that he relocated to New Orleans. Even with the move he was still area with Nothing Records located Cleveland while the studio was in New Orleans.
“how many times can you rhyme ‘hole’ with ‘soul’, after all?” -Scene Magazine
“All this nihilistic, self-loathing, misanthropic, suicidal posturing is getting to be a bit much, Mr. Self-Desruct. Either jump or come in off the ledge.”
- Scene Magazine
"Anybody like Scene Magazine?" "Yeah. I like to wipe my ass with it."-Trent Reznor, Agora 1994
Since this Fragility review pictured the Scene Magazine changed owner ship (2004) as well as changing their stance about Reznor citing some of the greatest concerts in the cities history were early NIN shows.
The review posted is rough and a bit personal but to be fair, it was not a very good show.
Note; many local businesses did in fact support NIN, Alternative Press, The Phantasy and U.S. Rocker as well as many other people and entities.
