Whats up with new chicken places flopping in Norman?

I've lived in Norman for many years. I went to school here. There have been two times that this has happened at least!

The first time was at XXX chicken! It felt like a indie business that was trying to make it work on campus corner. I thought maybe because of the name, it flopped. That and it's "spicy enough to send you to the emergency room" vibe. It didn't last a year.

Next was Nashbird which is a chain that came from OKC and the like. I never tried it, great chicken and service and it went up for lease what feels like within a year or two. What's going on???

Is chicken hard or is Norman ruthless??
