Can't find the fun in this game

So I'm usually a huge lover of mystery games and everything about this game should be right up my alley - the lack of combat, the mystery, the exploration... but every time I've tried to pick it up, I only get max an hour in before I get frustrated and quit. The fact that you constantly die just because the controls are so difficult is so frustrating. Especially because it happens so often just when you think you might be making progress. Like, just as I'm about to discover something new, oh whoops I fell in a black hole, enjoy slowly suffocating in space for the 100 000th time and then having to redo the journey to get to that point again.

I keep trying because I know so many people are evangelical about this game and it should be exactly my kind of thing, but at this point I'm really struggling to find the fun.
