Help in Nightmare

This has probably been posted a zillion times but here goes.

I'm struggling with Nightmare. The only way I've found to get to Avalon is abusing the Golden Egg item and trying to spend like a billion shards.

Any other tips ? I'm playing with Melusine. I think damage ways I'm doing fine (mostly) but everyone just one shots me. Is this normal ? Thanks guys
