Another issue with my beautiful boy 😞 - He doesn't like his feet touched by anyone else?
The first & second time my dog went to the groomers. He loved it, or at least didn't mind it. No problem at all. Because we are located in the mountains without much cement. I wash his feet / paws every night. He's not particularly overjoyed about it, but he's never gotten aggressive with me about it. I took him to the groomers last month and he got aggressive when she tried to look at his ears, touched his paws and then pick him up to put him on the table to give him his bath. Because he was aggressive she stopped and the appointment ended. Completely understandable. He got sick on the way home so I thought he was sick and that's why. I took him again today with the same groomer and at first we thought everything was fine. He's wanting to play with her and licking her face but the moment she went to touch his paws or look at his ears he went right back into the warning growl, and then started licking her face again when she stopped.
She tested it by giving him her hand and he would lick it. But she can not touch his feet. I've looked at his feet almost every night and there's no cuts. No bruises, no nothing. So we both think that it's some weird socialization thing. He allows me to do it but he doesn't like it?
Has anyone experienced this before?
Is this something I'm just going to have to test the waters and get him socialized so that he can eventually go to a groomers and get good professional bath?
This is a huge inconvenience. I bathe him with wet wipes every night but because of physical limitations of my own I can't give him a bath as good as a groomer. I'm not sure if I should try taking him to another groomer or ask people I know ... " hey will you try touching my dog's feet to see if he growls?" 🤦
