SRPD release here:

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) received information that a male teacher at Cesar Chavez Language Academy in Santa Rosa was suspected of lewd acts with a student. Detectives with the SRPD Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Team (DVSA) began investigating the case and identified the teacher as Gino Beccaria, a 34-year-old resident of Santa Rosa.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives obtained enough information to believe the suspect committed the crimes he was suspected of. At approximately 9:00 pm, a uniformed SRPD officer stopped Beccaria in his vehicle in the area of Rohnert Park Expressway and State Farm Drive.

Beccaria was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:

288(a) PC - Lewd acts with a minor

288.3(a) PC - Contact with a minor with the intent to commit lewd acts

288.4(a)(1) PC - Arrange a meeting with a minor with the intent to commit lewd acts

This investigation is ongoing and SRPD DVSA detectives are actively working to determine if Beccaria victimized additional students. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call the SRPD DVSA tip line at 707-543-3595 or online at www.srcity.org/CrimeTips.

Due to the age of the victim and the traumatizing nature of this incident, the student’s name, age, gender, and grade will not be disclosed.

It is essential for parents to have open and honest conversations with their children about the potential dangers posed by sexual predators. By discussing this topic, parents can help their kids recognize inappropriate behavior, understand the importance of setting boundaries, and feel empowered to speak up if they ever feel uncomfortable or threatened. Educating children about these risks fosters awareness and equips them with the knowledge needed to protect themselves, creating a safer environment both online and offline.

The Santa Rosa Police Department understands how challenging this incident is for children, parents, staff, and the entire school community, as it can evoke a range of emotions and concerns. To provide support during this difficult time, we have coordinated resources from the Violence Prevention Partnership, New Hope for Youth, and Verity to be present on campus at dismissal. The advocates will be available to parents and students to assist them in navigating this trauma. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels safe and supported, offering a listening ear and assistance as needed to help facilitate healing and recovery for all affected.
