Seeing people get triggered about the BF is funny to me

So many people are so obsessed with the latest features they seem to forget that not too long ago, photographer and filmmakers did NOT have the adunbance of luxuries at such affordable prices like we do today.

My first real camera was the rebel 300D. I bought it because I didn't know anything about cameras and wanted to make a short film with it. I fucking hated it at first. But after I made my first short film I started using it. All I had was the basic ass kit lens it came with. The button lay out and features are so stripped because of how fucking old it is. Back when I bought it in like, 2017 it was coming up on 2 decades old. It ALMOST could pass for a you camera with its silver coat of paint alone.

The more I used it the more I started to really appreciate it. At the time, and still now, tech bros across the web and beyond were painfully edging themselves to the highest megapixel count in the latest camera no matter what brand it was. And this lil bitch only 6 megapixels.

As soon as I imported those RAW files into light room I quickly realized all the latest and greatest specs, at least the WEIGHT we put on them, are completely irrelevant.

Even with that lame ass kit lens I was still able to get really good looking bokeh.

The camera was lacking a bunch of features and buttons. But on the flip side it was so easy and simple to use once you understood the basics and wasn't such a bitch to use after that.

No IBIS and I still got crystal clear pictures.

6 megapixels and I was still getting PHAT ass prints with no loss in detail.

I honestly love that camera and hate that I lost it.

I got it for $30. I think I read it was about $1k when it came out.

It was good enough when it came out. And over 20 years later I'd still feel confident in buying another one and being able to stand for to toe with any of latest cameras. Even the a9iii with its seemingly unmatched speed -- sports photography has been around for over a century. How'd they make it work all that time ago?

The sigma BF is a boss ass camera in my opinion.

It's obviously not for everyone. But it's definitely for me.

It reminds me of a bunch of people saying that Leica cameras are better for hobbies instead of professional use, yet there's people out there shooting entire weddings with an MP/M11 combo and outshining those with faster/featured pack jockey cams simply in talent alone.

I can't wait to get myself the BF. The simplicity in its design both aesthetically and with the UI. It reminds me of what I love and miss about the 300D.

You can say it's for brokies that can't get a Leica. But it's also just an awesome camera that knows what it is and what it isn't. Or at least Sigma as a company does.

I think people that rely so much on speed and features of the like, for the most part, haven't really justified needing them. Most of their work is either mediocre or just for good enough for work.

A lot of the professionals I really admire that have their own voice and vision -- ironically use slower cameras like hasselblad, phase one, Leica, etc. And they're also VERY successful. They may be fewer, but it says a lot about what's most valuable in the grand pyramid of life.

Fuck it, don't fight it.
