Finally bought a Q8. Haven’t taken delivery. Appears someone is taking it for a joy ride.

Bought a Certified Preowned Audi from a reputable Audi dealership. It wasn’t detailed yet or ready for me to take it home. But paperwork signed, contract signed, ready to go.

Tonight I pull up the LoJack (equivalent) app that came preinstalled on the car. And its driving away, far away from the dealer about an hour after the dealer closed. I kept refreshing the location and its now stopped at someone’s residence 35 miles from the dealer.

What should I do assuming it drives back in the morning? What should I make the dealer do to make things right?

Edit: i looked up the address at truepeoplesearch.com. Its definitely a manager at the dealership.

Edit 2: the app clocked the manager at 96 mph top speed on the way home

Edit 3: As many of you mentioned the dealer confirmed the sales manager took the car home to do the 50 mi shakedown for inspection since it went through the shop that day for Preowned Certification. The manager who drove the vehicle called and gave a half assessed apology and was rude about it. The Sales Director was more apologetic but literally refused to offer me anything except an unwind. I emailed the GM and got no response and was refused when asked to talk to him. This behavior seems to be blessed all the way to the top at this dealership.

In the end I’m going to keep the car because it’s literally the only CPO Q8 with black trim in my price range in the area and I have already negotiated a solid deal after months of hunting. In addition 90+ is not a challenge for a modern Audi to handle. So my plan is to take delivery and use my evidence to report them to every govt agency or dealer association that will listen in Texas then name and shame them here. But first I want my fucking car in my possession.

Some fun /s quotes in my conversations yesterday - “yes we shakedown every vehicle and push them to speeds of 90+”. - “Why would I joyride in a used Q8 there are way nicer cars here”.

Car dealerships are scum. Even the nice ones. All you salespeople defending these assholes in my comments can ….go …..fuck…….yourselves
